Inventory for Krom's Smithy
[Back to Longsaddle]
The majority of Krom's customers are farmers, caravan merchants and travelers. For them he makes plows, tools (shovels, picks, hammers, scythes, etc), nails, cooking pots, barrel hoops, wagon parts, horseshoes and all manner of things made of iron. He is also a skilled weaponsmith, though, and he keeps his hand in by making weapons for Lord Harpell's household, the town guards, and the caravan guards who pass through town. His selection is necessarily small, because he cannot sell as many of these as he does plows and wagon hubs, but what he has is of good quality. Some weapons do double duty as tools, and he tends to have a better supply of those.
Krom will make unstocked weapons on special consignment if the money is right (125% of the PHB cost). He only knows how to make the weapons below, and crossbows. Crossbows are not stocked, because they are too expensive for him to make unless he has a paying customer. He has made a couple for Griffonposts and will refer customers to Torvan, if they're looking for one. If another weapon not on this list is desired, he will attempt it if the customer can explain what it looks like, and how it works. He has a -2 circumstance penalty to craft such a weapon on his first attempt. That penalty is negated if he has a real life example to work from.
He can make masterwork items upon request, but will only do it if the customer is willing to pay time and materials. He charges a deposit of 150 gp in advance, the balance to be paid upon receipt of the weapon. If he fails his check, the cost of the wasted materials will be charged to the customer.
Krom is not an armorer, but he will attempt to make a suit of metal armor if a customer demands it and is willing to pay time and materials. He has sufficient skill with metal working to begin the attempt, but he doesn't have the specific skills of an armorer. Double the AC bonus of the armor to determine the DC. Again, any extra costs he incurs will be born by the customer.
Krom will purchase weapons on the list below for 60% of the PHB price, minus 5% for each one he already has in stock. If he already has six of them in stock, he will not purchase anymore.
Note: It is against the law in Longsaddle to sell weapons to hostile humanoid tribes, and that includes the Uthgardt barbarians. Krom believes this law is in the best interests of the town, and would not break it for any reason. If he even suspected that a customer might resell his weapons to hostile forces, he would not do business with him. Keep in mind that having the barbarian class is not the same thing as being, culturally speaking, a barbarian. A Barbarian (class) from Waterdeep can purchase weapons from Krom. A cleric from an Uthgardt tribe cannot--at least, not if Krom can identify him as an Uthgardt.
